Domestic Goodness

I have not done a domestic goodness post in forever, so here ya go!

I love, love, cleaning. It is a huge outlet for me, and totally calms me.  I used to use all sorts of different cleaners: pine-sol, clorox wipes, Lysol, etc. I never really thought much about all the nasty chemicals that they contain, but when I had Wren I decided I needed to change my ways :)

I use a few SIMPLE cleaning recipes.

All- Purpose Cleaner
Water
Oxygen Powered Bleach (disinfectant, deodorizer, and stain remover)
Essential oil of your choice

I use just a simple spray bottle from target. Fill it with water, add 2 TBS obp and 3-4 drops essential oil. This is my go to cleaner. I always have it near my sink, and I use it to clean out the sink, countertops, and table multiple times a day! The Oxygen bleach powder is a little expensive up front, but I have had the box I have now for over 2 years and it is still not empty.

Toilet Scrub
1 TBS castile soap ( I use the light blue kind "baby", but they have lots of different types) click here to check it out. I have seen these at Target, but I have found they are actually cheaper at a natural grocers.
2 TBS oxygen bleach powder
2 TBS baking soda
8 drops essential oil ( I love orange for the toilet)

Add all ingredients to the toilet bowl and scrub. For heavy duty jobs let it sit for about 15 minutes before scrubbing and brushing. Enjoy the beauty and freshness of your toilet!
*Also, don't forget to clean your toilet brush as well. I use vinegar and some castile soap. That thing is nast.

I hope these are easy and helpful for anyone who has been wanting to take the plunge to try more of natural approach to cleaning. I find that it is always hard to take the leap, but once you do you can't go back... I do however still only use clorox to mop my floors.... shhh... don't tell.

most of my recipes come from this book.  Here

Happy Cleaning
