Dear Baby Girl

Dear baby girl,

I have been thinking about you a lot lately.  I think about what features and characteristics  you will have... daddy's eyelashes, my round face. Will you have fair skin, or olive skin? Will you be stubborn like your mom? Will you be creative like your dad?  I cannot wait to meet you.
From the moment we found out we were pregnant life changed.  Thinking about family of two was in the past.  Every second of our life has become about you.  We have learned more and more about what love is, and have truly learned what it means to be selfless.
Every time I feel you move around in my tummy, I am reminded that you are real.  You are making yourself known.  I know your favorite time of day. I know you love your daddy already.  You love it each night as we lay down for bed and he puts his hands on my tummy. You love his hands.  He sings Spanish hymns to you, and you go crazy!
Life will never be the same once you enter into the world, in just three short months.  We are excited to start a new journey with you.
Love,
Mom

Querida Hija,

You're Mom has been waiting a long time for you to come into our lives. And she will put up with every trip to the bathroom (almost 15 a day sometimes!) and every sleepless night because you are worth it!

Most of the modern world just doesn't get it, especially our age group here in America. They don't get that the greatest joy and satisfaction in life comes from caring for others. There will be times, i'm sure, when your little screams and poops will force us to think back to how much we needed you here. To remember how empty life would be without all the poop.

This Christmas season and hopefully every one hereafter, we will tell each other how much and why we love one another. Know that even before you were born, you were loved. Because:

You're Mom lights up every time she feels you move.
I light up every time I feel you move.
Picking out a name for you is incredibly nerve-wracking but so incredibly exciting.
We get to prepare for the biggest challenge of our lives.
You will be so dang cute!
While dreams and imagination are often different from reality, the thoughts of long drives into the country, hikes with the family, countless dinners together, and star gazing make me smile.

I hope we are ready for the challenge and even if we aren't perfect, WHICH WE AREN'T, your Father in Heaven is and will always be there to watch over you.

Be cheerful, keep your quarters clean, and do good,
Your Old Man.
