One of the hobbies that has come from my season of fire is Cedar is running. I have enjoyed seeing myself improve, and actually ran a 10K in 50 minutes! not bad for a first timer. Anyway, I went running yesterday for PT, and decided to really focus on my surroundings. With everything that I saw my grandma Jeanne kept coming to my mind. So I decided to make a list of everything that I admire and can remember about my grandma.
She loved her grandkids. We got to spend at least a week with her and papa every summer, and I remember always looking forward to this. She cherished the grandchildren, and I will never forget the blue recliner she would rock us in.
4 letters...ZCMI! ha, she loved this place. As a little kid we would always go to the ZCMI bakery and get a giant pink cookie. There was also a restaurant in the top where we would get soup and saltine crackers looking over Mt. Olympus. She always told me to eat slow. After eating she would always put the saltine crackers into her purse to become snacks for later. She always had these! haha!
My grandma also loved her back porch. I think her and grandpa sat our there almost everyday that they could. Her backyard was full of golf balls, raspberries, duck ornaments...ha, hummingbird feeders, kids playing in the sandbox, roses, and on some occasions a small pool! She loved the back porch, her children love it, and so do her grandchildren.
RED. I always remember my grandma wearing red. A few months back I had a dream about her, and of course she was wearing red. Why red? I am not sure, but I wish she were here for me to ask. Maybe it comes from being a strong fan of the U of U football team! She always had on red nail polish, and sometimes a red, wide brimmed, visor. I love it.. I should wear more red.
My grandma also had a testimony of the Gospel. When I was little she took me to Valley View 6th ward whenever I was visiting. I honestly think she planted my testimony in me :)
These are just a few of the things I remember about her. the memories are endless!
